Engineering Qualification

Candidates should hold an Engineering Degree from a recognized University or Institution, or possess another engineering qualification accepted under the UPSC Engineering Services Examination rules.

The notification also provides specific equivalent qualifications and eligibility provisions for certain services and posts. Candidates whose qualification does not directly appear as a standard Engineering Degree should check the detailed eligibility clauses before submitting the application.

• Minimum Age: 21 Years
• Maximum Age: 30 Years
• Age Calculation Date: 01 January 2027
• Candidate should have been born not earlier than 02 January 1997 and not later than 01 January 2006.

Age Relaxation

• SC / ST: 5 Years
• OBC: 3 Years
• Eligible Government Servants: Up to 5 Years
• Ex-Servicemen: Up to 5 Years, subject to applicable rules
• PwBD: Up to 10 Years, subject to applicable rules

Out of the approximately 480 vacancies, 19 vacancies are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

1. Visit the UPSC online application portal.
2. Complete the required UPSC registration process if you have not already registered.
3. Log in and select Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2027.
4. Fill in your personal, educational and other required information carefully.
5. Select the appropriate engineering discipline for the examination.
6. Upload the photograph, signature and required documents according to the prescribed instructions.
7. Pay the ?200 examination fee if you are not covered by a fee-exempt category.
8. Check all information carefully before final submission.
9. Submit the application by 06 October 2026 before 6:00 PM.
10. Save the submitted application details for future use.

• Select your engineering discipline carefully because the technical paper is based on the chosen discipline.
• Check the service-wise educational and medical requirements before filling your preferences.
• Do not wait until the closing hours of 06 October 2026 to submit the application.
